Short-Term Rental Registry Timeline
The province has announced minor updates to its short-term rental rules, extending some enforcement deadlines in response to requests from platforms like Airbnb and VRBO. While the registration deadline for hosts remains unchanged, enforcement for platforms has been adjusted.
May 1, 2025:
All short-term rental hosts are still required to register their listings with the province by this date.June 2, 2025:
Platforms such as Airbnb and VRBO must stop advertising any listings that do not have a valid provincial registration number. They must also prevent new bookings for unregistered listings or face possible investigation and monetary penalties.June 23, 2025:
Platforms must cancel all future bookings associated with hosts who do not have a valid provincial registration number. Failure to comply may result in investigations and potential penalties.
